How to Restore Trust in My Husband

When trust is broken in a marriage, it is typically a long road to full recovery. If you have caused your husband to lose trust in you, and you wish to restore that trust you must first take full responsibility for your actions. You also need to be patient with the process as there is no set time table for how long it will take to restore your husband's trust in you. Consistency and honesty can help you to repair the damage done and actively showing your love for your husband on a daily basis can help rebuild the relationship.

  1. Come clean about the incident that broke your husband's trust. Relay to him all necessary information and answer all of his questions fully and truthfully.
  2. Discuss the potential reasons behind the breach of trust and what could have motivated you to act in the manner that severed the relationship's trust. Talk about how you can fix what went wrong internally that caused the breaking of trust so it does not happen again.
  3. Sever any relationship that contributed to the breach of trust, especially if the breakdown of trust was due to infidelity.
  4. Encourage transparency and allow your husband access to personal items of yours, such as your cell phone, planner or email address to prove that you are not continuing to hide anything.
  5. Tell your husband that you love him and you are sorry, and further reiterate the words through your actions. Make plans to spend time together and keep them. Go out of your way to do kind things for your husband, such as making him breakfast, giving him a massage or participating in activities or hobbies he enjoys, for example, fishing or hiking.
