Sometimes, he gives you strong signals he's interested and at other times he seems cold and distant. It's driving you crazy and you need to know what his intentions are before you get too serious and risk breaking your heart. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to tell what a man's intentions are.
- Watch his body language. If he faces you when he's talking, smiles and touches you frequently -- he's interested. If he turns away, frowns or looks distracted -- he's not interested.
- Look him in the eyes. Tom Currie from Tokyo University found that men who are contemplating having a relationship with a women tend to look her in the eyes for long periods of time. By contrast, looking away frequently and gazing only at your body are not good signs.
- Tell him what your intentions are. You don't have to be bossy or scare him -- just say something like, "I am looking for a long-term relationship." If he responds "Me too," you know you are on the same page. If he fails to respond, he is ambivalent and if he says he is looking for something different -- then at least you have your answer.
- Notice how he acts toward you. A man may promise you a lot of things, but if he's serious his actions will show it. If he says he wants a future with you, for example but he has no pictures of you on his Facebook, think twice about the sincerity of his intentions.
- Ask him in a straight-forward fashion. Wait until you have been enjoying a special moment together and then tell him how much you like him and that you see a future together and ask him what he thinks. Asking the question directly will resolve the issue for you.
